Paper Crafts - Kids Favorite Cartoon Characters

Here is a beautiful wall decoration that I made for my daughter’s 3rd birthday. Can you guess how much all this decoration would cost ? What ever is your guess, I can bet you are wrong. Because, this entire wall decoration costed me less than $ 7.

My daughter loves Dora The Explorer and Ni-Hao Kai-lan cartoons. So, I thought, I should surprise her with life size wall decorations of her loving cartoon characters. I didn’t find in store those exactly what I was looking for. Some of those, what ever I found are not at affordable prices for me. So, I got an idea of making those characters myself. Here is the output. She loved it and on her birthday morning was surprised. Her first words on that day were “Mommy, it looks awesome.” That’s it. With those sweet words, I felt I am paid million times more for my efforts. And, it costed me not even 10$.
Please have a look here.

This kind of decoration I never saw earlier. It is my own imagination and I created it for my daughter. The inspiration behind this hard work is all I wanted to see my daughter's excitement when she sees life size characters of her all fevorites. Those moments are amazing and life time sweet memories for myself and my husband.  I got it. I got it. Its very very true....!!!

The Inspiration behind posting my crafts in this blog is, the appreciation and encouragement that I received from my husband, family and friends, when they saw what I have made. I thought of sharing my amazing idea of creating cartoon characters with very simple accessories. So that  many kids and elders can experience the wonderful moments, what my family had experienced.

To make wonderful wall decorations, you need the following stuff:

1. Construction papers ( a pack of 96 papers cost 2$)
2. Glue sticks ( Pack of 3 cost 2$)
3. Magic tape ( Pack of 3 cost 3$)
4. Scissor ( Hope everybody would have at home)
5. Pencil and eraser -----Cost less than 3$
6. Crayola markers ( Costs 70c )

Here is how DORA -Paper Craft is made for wall decoration:

This is Dora pictures that I got it in google search. Keep this photo on desktop and try to draw as duplicate picture as possible on another white paper

1. If you can draw Dora Hair style perfectly, the most critical part of the job is done. Dora is all about Hair style.

2.Separate Hair Style and Face.

3. Place the Hair Style cutting on Black construction paper and cut the hair style.

4. Now, Dora, hair style is ready. Now, We got to make the face with Orange color Construction paper. Keep the hair on Orange color construction paper. Almost you can see most of the face shape with the hair style it self. Rest of the face we will finish, seeing the Dora picture and Face cutting we made earlier.

5. Draw and cut the Brown color construction paper for Dora eyes. Make black eye balls and small white color dot on eye ball for giving lively look for eyes., Draw and cut Dora smile with Red color construction paper. Small piece of brown paper for Dora nose. Place them in position and finish Dora face.

6. The Major part of the work is done once you are done with making Dora face. Now draw rest of Dora body with pencil and make a sketch.

7. Draw and cut rectangular shape of Dora’s legs, small yellow pieces of Dora socks and white and pink Dora’s shoes.

8. Draw and cut Pink color T-shirt and Red color Short.

9. Draw and cut into shape,Orange color Right hand. Yellow bracelet and Purple color flower on bracelet.
10. Draw Dora’s left hand like waving “Hai….!!!” Dora left hand will go along with the left side of Dora’s face and covers some part of Hair style.
11. Draw and cut small pieces of Purple backpack. No need of total backpack….only visible part of back pack is enough and stick together

Now we draw and cut all the essential parts of Dora design. Now, we stick together everything and make beautiful Dora. Now, you have to draw outline for entire Dora. Because, outline gives wonderful look to the work what you made and enhances beauty and clear shape of diagram, when you stick it to the wall.

Finally….Dora The Explorer……..is ready.

Just like Dora, I will be posting other characters that would make it fun and colorful.

Advantages Using construction paper:

1. You really don’t require dynamic drawing skills. As these are all paper cuttings.
2. This is not painting. So, mistakes made here and there, can be corrected easily.
3. Using pencil and eraser for initial preparation of sketch…will give lot of flexibility in getting perfect shape.
4. All the parts are made separately, checking the proportions and perfection all the time, and sticking together at the end, make the decoration awesome perfect, beautiful and easy to make.
5. Anybody and Everybody can do it. Who ever can hold pencil and know to cut with scissors can do these decorations very easily.
